Windows 10: Deactivate the snap-in function - here's how!

Windows' snap action can get on your nerves sometimes, doesn't it? You can find out how to deactivate it in this article.

This function is very annoying, especially for players who have to press the shift key several times in their game. It interrupts you while you are playing and a high pitched sound can be heard.

What is its function?

The locking function is a writing aid. When it is active, a Shift or Alt key, for example, is engaged. With it you can write in Capslock or do different key combinations if you don't feel like pressing the Alt Gr key or Shift key, or you can't for various reasons.

Deactivate the locking function - this is how it works!

In a nutshell, I will now explain to you how to completely deactivate the locking function.

Step 1: Press the shift key 5 times

Step 2: The window comes up with the hint of the locking function and whether you want to activate it. There you go to the blue sentence and get into the settings of the snap-in function.

Step 3: Now you select the first tick under "Key combination", press "Apply" and then "OK".

The locking function is now completely deactivated. Have fun with it!

If the locking function should reactivate after the next restart, a small function can help. In the settings under "Ease of use"> "Keyboard"> deselect the check mark under "Allow key combination to start the snap-in function". Then the setting should also be saved for the next time. In principle, this is the function I was looking for. Strangely enough, everything is back to normal after restarting Windows. What could that be?

David Wurm

Hello Thorsten. Good question - after changing the setting, did you click "Apply" and then "OK"? Then restarted the computer cleanly?
Best regards, David von TechnikNews

Thorsten

Hello David, yes, of course I clicked on "Apply" and then on "OK" after removing the tick. In the meantime I have repeated the process at least 10 times (as described in step 3) and each time, after a "clean" restart, the checkmark is set again! In the meantime I've almost gotten used to it after starting the computer Proto perform zedur manually, but all this is not normal! I'm really at a loss!
Greetings Thorsten

Hi. Maybe a little too late, but you can uncheck “Allow shortcut keys to start the snap function” in the settings under the “Keyboard” category on the “Ease of use” tab. The slider is of little importance here. just turn it off / let it go.
