In order to interact with Spotify on the desktop, you always had to change the current window. The new miniplayer is supposed to help.

Especially if you use Spotify on your desktop for several hours, it can be annoying to have to switch to the app for every interaction. There are some apps on macOS that monitor the current playback and some control options over others Proshow grams, but you have to find them first and often cost something. This ProProblems are now a thing of the past, because Spotify has now introduced its own mini player.

When the corresponding update is installed, a new icon will appear in the bar at the bottom of the window between the volume control and the button to activate full-screen mode. By clicking on it you can open the mini player. The small window that then appears can be used parallel to the main app, taking on the shapes shown above and also showing the video from video podcasts.

The mini player is now available in the Spotify desktop app for premium subscribers. When it will be activated for everyone has not yet been announced.
