Google had our predecessor a good year ago presents – now Android 11 is here. so profit not only beta users, but also all others with supported smartphones. Google released the update today.

Remember: In February of this year, Google launched the first development version released by Android 11. After a few more beta versions, it is now time for the official rollout to the masses. Unfortunately, there are not so many new functions this year, the features of Android 11 are basically remaining true to. There are some practical improvements with Android 11 - new functions are rather few.

Android 11 at a glance

Im German Google blog there is already a good summary of the new Android 11 functions. A good overview video has also been prepared on YouTube, which we have embedded above. There is now an extra notification group for chats, chat bubbles (as known from Facebook Messenger) and an integrated screen recorder. In addition, the now wireless Android Auto, the one-time assignable notifications and the app suggestions on the start screen based on one's own activities are also interesting. The latter feature will only be reserved for Google Pixel smartphones.

You also have your Google Pay cards and smart home devices ready when you hold down the on / off switch. Resetting the permissions for apps after a long period of inactivity is another feature of Android 11. You can tell here that these are not groundbreaking things, but rather details and practical improvements.

The rollout of Android 11 for Google's Pixel devices is already underway. The Google Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4a and newer series are shipped with the latest version. In addition, the new version will be rolled out from today on selected OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and Realme smartphones. As usual, the update will take longer for all other manufacturers - from a few weeks to months.
