Android Oreo on almost no smartphone: Distribution is very slow

Every month, Google publishes statistics with the current Android distribution. The development of Android Oreo is particularly interesting at the moment. Things are going pretty slowly there. Interesting: the version with the most market share is still a slightly older Android operating system.
They're here: the Android distribution numbers for November 2017. Google also provided some pretty interesting insights into the development of the latest Android 8.0 on the Android Blog. From this it can be deduced that hardly any users are using Android Oreo. Compared to October, the market share increased by 0,2 Procent to just 0,3 Procent on. Many manufacturers have not yet managed to update their users. Smartphones with the latest Android version can currently still be counted by hand.
Android 6.0 remains the most widely used operating system
Android Nougat recorded the highest increase compared to the previous month. Here the growth increased from one Procent rate from 17,8 to 20,6 Propercent – an increase of 2,8 Procent. But Android 7.0 is not yet at the top: with 30,9 Prozent Android Marshmallow continues to top all values. Closely followed by Android 5.0 Lollipop with 27,2 Procent. Android 3 takes third and fourth place, each with the Jelly Bean and KitKat versions.
Looking at the least distributed versions, Android 8.0 is still in last place. This is a poor ranking for an operating system released this year. If you consider that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is ahead of Android Oreo - which was announced in 2010 and comes in at 0,5 Procenter of Android smartphones.
It will be some time before Android 8.0 Oreo makes it to the top or among the top 2. In contrast to its competitor Apple, the distribution of Google's Android is rather slow and often takes several years. However, this is also due to the fact that many manufacturers first have to adapt their smartphones to the new software. Apple does not have to do this and can therefore deliver the software quickly.
