There is a new Android security patch every month. All smartphones should receive this promptly - at least they should. This time, the security patch closes a critical Android security hole that should not be entirely underestimated. The current security patch for April 2019 is therefore really important. We will explain to you whether you are affected by it.

Most are Security patches pretty much doesn’t matter. It doesn't bring any new functions and one thinks “the gap doesn't affect me anyway”. Smartphones with Android One and Stock Android receive the patches reliably every month. All other manufacturers often take their time, especially with older models. But if you don't, the current security patch fixes a gap from last year. However, this has only now been published.

Android vulnerability: Numerous Android smartphones affected

Numerous smartphones with a QualcommProprocessor affected. As ZDNet reported, attackers could use this vulnerability via the Processor can get access to passwords and other private data. Even a possible full access by third parties to the smartphone cannot be ruled out. While the vulnerability requires root access, there is enough malware out there that does that procreates without problems. The user does not notice this either. A security researcher discovered the vulnerability in March 2018.

Following ProQualcomm processors are affected by the vulnerability:

  • IPQ8074
  • MDM9150, MDM9206, MDM9607, MDM9650, MDM9655, MSM8909W, MSM8996AU
  • QCA8081
  • QCS 605/XNUMX/XNUMX
  • Qualcomm 215
  • Snapdragon 210 / SD 212 / SD 205, SD 410/12, SD 425, SD 427, SD 430, SD 435, SD 439 / SD 429, SD 450, SD 615/16 / SD 415, SD 625, SD 632, SD 636, SD 650/52, SD 712 / SD 710 / SD 670, SD 820, SD 820A, SD 835, SD 845 / SD 850, SD 8CX, SDA660, SDM439, SDM630, SDM660, Snapdragon_High_Med_2016, SXR1130

This list also includes the current Snapdragon 835 and 845 models. This year's models with a Snapdragon 855 are probably not affected. Those smartphones that were previously equipped with a QualcommProzessor have appeared, all of them are probably affected. Neither do Huawei and Samsung smartphones in this country, since you have your own Processors.

Android vulnerability: will it affect me?

It's easy to check for yourself if you're affected by the critical vulnerability. Either you just look for your smartphone on the Internet, look for it Processor and compare with the list above. Alternatively, you can use the second option. All smartphones with one are listed on the Qualcomm website Proprocessor listed. Easy here search for the respective smartphone, see which one Proprocessor is installed and compare with the list above.

Anyone who is affected and has not yet received an update can simply not do anything. It's the manufacturers' turn: they have to deliver the security update to the affected smartphones as quickly as possible. However, it is questionable whether older and at the same time affected smartphones will also receive the update.
