After the new iMac Apple today introduced the Apple Mac mini for 2024. We summarize the new features here.

This year, Apple completely changed the design of the Mac mini. It now looks like a much more compact Mac Studio and is also 50 percent smaller than its predecessor. It still comes with a variety of ports, namely a total of five USB-C ports, an HDMI port, a jack plug and a Gigabit Ethernet socket. Three of the USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 4 with the M4 and Thunderbolt 5 with the M4 Pro.

This makes this Apple Mac mini the second Mac with the M4 and the first with the M4 Pro. Here, too, both chips are primarily designed to run "Apple Intelligence" features, which are now being introduced with macOS Sequoia 15.1. Genmoji and "Image Playground" are just two of the functions included in this range.

This year, all configurations of the computer also come with 16 gigabytes of RAM. The M4 allows the use of up to two 6K and one 5K monitor, while the M4 Pro supports up to three 6K monitors.

Apple is setting another important milestone in sustainability with this Mac mini. It is the first Apple computer to be carbon neutral, bringing the company one step closer to its goal of being completely carbon neutral by 2.

Apple Mac mini (2024): Prices and availability

Pre-orders for the new Mac mini start today. The starting price is 699 euros, with the cheapest configuration with M4 Pro available for 1.649 euros. The computer will be available from November 8th.
