The Apple Watch Series 4 is to get a larger display - this rumor has been circulating in the world of technology for a long time. 9to5Mac now claims to have found out how high the resolution is for the upcoming 42-millimeter model.

Significant increase in resolution

To begin with, the already known facts briefly: This year, too, it is very likely that you will be able to choose between two case sizes for the Apple Watch - a 38-millimeter model and a 42-millimeter model should be available. Many expect the displays to get bigger and the bezels smaller all around.

9to5Mac claims to have found an indication of the resolution of the 5-millimeter version in the current beta of watchOS 42. This should be 384 x 480 pixels, whereby the pixel density with an assumed 345 PPI could be relatively high. For comparison: The resolution of the 42-millimeter version of the Series 3 is "only" 312 x 390 pixels. According to 9to5Mac, new dials are also to come for the larger screens, which make better use of the space gained.

More space for content

The new resolution accommodates more content, which means third-party app developers can expand their Proneed to adjust programs. For example, 9to5Mac simulated the new resolution with a beta of Xcode and launched the PCalc app: The elements do not adapt to the new resolution because they have a fixed size. However, such adjustments should not represent a great effort for developers. At the 12 September Apple will introduce the Apple Watch Series 4. We will report on it immediately after the event.
