DJI Air 2s drone: All information about the new drone [Exclusive]
With the DJI Air 2s, the Chinese drone specialist will be introducing a new drone in the near future. All information in advance.
The DJI Air 2s will bring some upgrades compared to the Mavic Air 2. While the manufacturer still installed a half-inch small 2 megapixel sensor for photos in the Air 48, this will be upgraded to 20 megapixels in the successor (without Mavic branding). On the other hand, at 600 grams, the drone is 30 grams heavier than its predecessor. The manufacturer also brings the 10-bit color space into the camera. This means that over a billion colors can be recorded.
With “Intelligent HDR”, the manufacturer has brought a function into the drone that “automatically combines several recordings in order to increase the dynamic range of images without post-processing”. The drone also supports a hyperlapse and a panorama function.
As can be seen on our renders, the drone has a total of four rotors, each with a maximum length of 19 meters pro second (like the Mavic Air 2). The drone can be operated up to a maximum of 6000 meters above sea level. The internal memory is again measured at 8 gigabytes. A new feature has now been integrated for video makers with "Master Shots", which executes ten different maneuvers from a motif and takes short shots. The object always remains in the middle of the recording. The drone supports the well-known "Spotlight 2.0" and "Point of Interest 3.0" standards, but "ActiveTrack 4.0" will also be introduced with the drone. This simply tracks an object.
DJI Air 2s: Also interesting for FPV beginners
With the new Air 2s drone, the autopilot is also upgraded to version 4.0. It detects foreign objects in all four directions and avoids them. The "FPV Goggles V2" known from the new DJI FPV drone are also supported by the DJI Air 2s. Accordingly, the drone also supports the new "OcuSync 3.0" transmission standard, with which the rendering in the glasses should run smoothly. To avoid airplanes or helicopters, DJI installs the "ADS-B" signal transmitter to receive a signal from nearby airplanes.
The battery is 3.500 mAh, this has already been confirmed by an FCC entry. The drone comes in the color white, an exact price is not yet available, but it should be over 800 euros. The presentation will take place in April 2021.
... who buys a drone without a CE mark now (2021) - either he doesn't know the laws or wants to take great 2023 MPix photos of the meadow from 20 - it's cheek that something like this is brought to the European market!
The new Air 2s is not classified. This must be noted on the packaging and in particular on the drone. Both is not the case. Consequence: fly in A3 (with additional certificate in A2) from 2023 then only in A3. Disappointing that DJI, knowing about this regulation, brings an unclassified drone. Well, buyers will find them ...
Will the battery from the Mavic Air2 fit into the Air2 S ??? (Identical) ???
Hi,
the battery is identical / structurally identical.
With kind regards,
Nils
counting to four is difficult?
Can the camera be rotated vertically by 90 ° this time?
I do not (yet) have a very specific data sheet. It should be in there. I will then do an update (when I get it)
At least as interesting as the technical details would be the question of whether the drone is EU-classified, i.e. has C1 on the nameplate.
Hey,
Thanks for your comment.
Unfortunately, I don't have any specific data on the classification yet.
With kind regards,
Nils
At least it can be assumed. The article speaks of an ADS-B transmitter, which is the only feature that the predecessors for classification in the EU regulation lack
Geo-awareness?
The classification must be confirmed by a nameplate and this must be officially certified.
Is EU bureaucracy quick?
Nonsense. Two completely different things.
At that time I didn't keep the AIR2 because I speculated about the missing ADS-B (only in the EU) an update with C1 certification could come next year (at least in the EU). At that time, however, I did not think of such a "big" update - even though I saw the AIR2 as a weak successor to the AIR1. In any case, I would not understand why DJI should bring an update of the Air1 without a C2 certificate? Without a C1, the drone will be returned to DJI without a flight 😉
Definitely has no classification ...
