E3 2020 canceled due to coronavirus concerns
The ESA has now also canceled E3 2020. The reason for this is the spread of COVID-19 (corona virus).
Actually, E3 2020 should have taken place from June 9th to 11th this year. Due to the further spread of COVID-19, the ESA, the organizers of the fair, have announced that it cannot take place this year. The tradeshow has been held every year since 1995, and 2020 will be the first year that it has not. The organizers have already guaranteed all exhibitors and visitors a full reimbursement of the costs incurred.
Now the question is whether there will be an alternative date on site, which is probably not the case at the moment. The ESA announced in a statement that one already proasked to set up an "online experience". What to expect from it is currently still open. One of the exhibitors, Microsoft, has already announced that an "Xbox digital event" will take place at E3 2020 instead of the keynote. Information on this will follow in the near future.
