Essential Phone: "First-Look" event announced for August 25th
The Essential Phone from Android founder Andy Rubin was announced a good three months ago. Sales should start in June. That was almost two months ago. Now there should finally be an appointment for a “First Look” event.
Some time has passed since the last rumors about the Essential Phone. It is understandable that some no longer believe in the release of the smartphone. A few weeks ago it was said that many employees and managers should have left the company. From this one could assume that the launch of the mobile phone is suffering from it. But now there is positive news.
Invitation to a “First Look” event
Now blogs like 9to5Google got an invitation to an event of the company in Los Angeles. This is to take place on August 25th from 18 p.m. to 20 p.m. local time. It is still unclear whether only technology blogs or smartphone pre-orders received an invitation. In general, the number of participants for the event is limited. When writing the article, it is still unclear whether only the phone or accessories for it will be presented. At the moment it is only clear that the cell phone will cost around 700 US dollars. In addition, a release in Europe has already been confirmed in advance.
What is the Essential Phone anyway?
The Essential Phone is the first smartphone from Android founder Andy Rubin. He wants to bring this to market with a small start-up. On the pictures that are currently available of the cell phone, one can say that it will look very futuristic.
The back will be made of glass. There is also a dual camera and a fingerprint sensor. The front consists mostly of a display. In the upper part of it there is only a recess for the front camera and for the earpiece.
It is still pretty certain that the mobile phone will get Stock Android software with the Pixel Launcher and the associated icons. In addition, it should be modular. I don't have any ideas for implementing this feature yet, as you don't see any connectors or the like, like with the Moto Z devices.
