Facebook Moments: Not available in Europe for the time being
The new app from Facebook, which sorts photos via face recognition and you can then send the selfies with the person directly, will not be available in Europe for the time being, because the data protectionists do not fully agree with this app due to the face recognition.
Another app from Facebook, certainly useful for some, was launched by the company in the USA last week. With the new app, it should be easier to sort the pictures according to the person depicted on them - this can save a lot of work. Of course, Facebook is not allowed to do it without your consent, which is why the app will not be available in Europe for the time being.
For data protection reasons, no release in Europe
According to European data protection law, it is not permissible that the persons depicted cannot determine whether they want the sorting. In addition, the privacy advocates believe that the sorting function on Facebook Moments should be deactivated by default, and that users can then decide if they would like to sort it Wall Street Journal. But what does the app make sense for? - I don't know myself. That is why Facebook is currently not publishing with us in Europe in order not to get into conflict until a solution has been found. “We don't currently have an opt-in mechanism, so it won't be a moment until we have found a solution,” said Facebook. However, there is not yet a specific schedule as to when this feature will be available from us.
