Google Nest Audio: The music speaker with the Google Assistant

With the Google Nest Audio, Google is updating the already five-year-old Google Home. Like its predecessor, it has the Google Assistant built in and plays music from YouTube Music, for example.

Google already has some smart speakers on offer, such as the Google Nest Hub. A smart speaker, i.e. without a display, has also been around for a long time. That was the Google Home, which is now getting on in years. With the Google Nest Audio, a new one is now moving into the range and - what a surprise - it is even available in Germany and Austria for 99 euros from the start. It is available for pre-order starting today in the colors chalk and carbon Google store offered - a third pink color unfortunately does not come to us.

Dynamic bass and room groups

Under the hood is a 75 mm woofer and a 19 mm tweeter designed by Google. Thus, the sound of the new Google Nest Audio should put all previous Google speakers in the shade. As is already the case with the competition Sonos Move the Nest Audio adapts dynamically to the room. If you change the room, microphones recognize the new environment and the software automatically adjusts the equalizer with bass and treble.

Just like smart speakers can, Google Nest Audio can also be added to groups. If so desired, the loudspeakers play synchronously throughout the house - there is no limit to the number. In addition, there are three microphones in Nest Audio for the Google Assistant, which should also work offline. Thanks to a special chip, the system should be able to answer queries directly on the device even without an internet connection. Unfortunately, this feature is currently only available in the United States.

If you don't want to use YouTube Music, you can easily pair with the speaker using Bluetooth or Google Cast.
