Google Pixel 4a officially launched: Google's forgotten smartphone

There have been rumors about a Google Pixel 4a for a long time. Yesterday the company finally presented this smartphone. It can.
The Pixel 2019a was released for Google I / O 3. Back then, it was a mid-range smartphone that saved a lot of money compared to the Pixel 3 and still got a lot of features. The Google Pixel 4a has been in various rumors since the beginning of the year. However, due to the corona virus, an earlier release was not possible.
Well, at least we have the smartphone now. The first difference compared to the Pixel 4 is immediately noticeable on the front. Instead of a slightly thicker edge on the top of the OLED display, which is 5,81 inches in size and has a full HD resolution, we only find a punchhole for the front camera, which has a resolution of eight megapixels. This means that the 4a has no sensors for face recognition. Accordingly, there is a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The battery of the Pixel 4a is 3.140 mAh. According to Google, it should last up to 24 hours on one charge. Wireless charging is not supported. The battery powers a Snapdragon 710, which is supported by 128 gigabytes of memory and six gigabytes of RAM. The current Android 10 software is running. An update to Android 11 is guaranteed.
The Pixel 4a has the same main camera as its big brother. It has a resolution of 12,2 megapixels and an f / 1.7 aperture. Unfortunately, there is no wide-angle lens like the one we know from Pixel 4.
Prices and availability
The Pixel 4a can be pre-ordered in the “Just Black” color variant in the Google Store. The price is 349 euros (340,20 euros with the current VAT reduction). The smartphone is (for the time being) not available in Austria.
