Google Tensor: Own processor for Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
The processor, previously known as Project "Whitechapel", is now getting its name: Google Tensor. It will be the heart of the Google Pixel 6 series. With this, the company hopes to bring even more AI and machine learning functions directly (offline) to the system, directly to the chip. With the previous processor, the company simply reached its limits when developing such functions. The new chip was developed with a focus on the well-known Pixel functions (voice assistant, camera and artificial intelligence).
New colors, new design
The color and the back are also taking a completely new direction - as if the previous designer had been replaced. On the back we now find a horizontal camera panel, which should definitely stand out a bit. In the Pro model, this also consists of a polished aluminum frame, while in the Pixel 6 it is matte. How thick the smartphone will be, including the new camera bar, has not yet been revealed - nor have any other technical specifications.
Well, almost: Opposite TheVerge A few details have already been revealed. The display of the Google Pixel 6 Pro will be 6,7 inches diagonally, have a QHD+ resolution and offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen is slightly rounded at the sides.
The "normal" Pixel 6, on the other hand, comes with a smaller 6,4 inches, a reduced resolution of only FHD+ and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Unlike the Pro model, the display will be flat and not rounded. However, both devices are said to have a fingerprint sensor under the display, use the Tensor processor, together with a Titan M2 security chip.
There are three cameras on the back: a new wide-angle main sensor, an ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. Google does not share any other specifications about the camera other than that the wide-angle lens should be able to capture 150 percent more light. However, the Pro model does not share the telephoto lens compared to the normal Pixel 6.
You can tell the two Pixel phones apart on the back by the fact that the Pro model has more space towards the edge, compared to the smaller area towards the edge on the Pixel 6. Things like the new punch hole camera on the front or bright colors are available on both models.
