Honor V40 presented: the first Honor smartphone after the sale
Honor today officially presented its first smartphone, the Honor V40, after it became independent from Huawei. For a converted low price it has a lot to offer and that is exactly what we will now take a closer look at in the following lines.
Before we take a closer look at the technical data of the smartphone, one more important thing in advance: The Chinese company Huawei sold its subsidiary brand Honor in November of last year. According to Huawei, this step was necessary due to the shortage of technical components as a result of the US embargo . Since Honor is now an independent company, they will be able to work together with Google, Qualcomm and Co. again in the future. However, at the moment it is still unclear whether the V40 will come with Google services.
Honor V40: Technical Specifications
One of the highlights of the V40 is definitely the front with the extremely thin display bezels and the strongly curved sides. The 6,72-inch OLED panel is only interrupted by an elongated punch hole that has space for two front cameras. The display supports a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hertz and has a pleasantly sharp resolution of 2.676 x 1.236 pixels. The Dimensity 1000+ from MediaTek works under the hood and there is 8 GB of RAM as standard with either 128 or 256 GB of flash memory. The in-house user interface Magic UI in version 4, based on Android 10, is used as software. The 4.000 mAh battery can be charged with a cable with up to 66 watts and wireless charging with up to 50 watts is also possible. The Honor V40 also offers features such as Wi-Fi 6, dual SIM and stereo speakers.
The manufacturer installs three sensors on the back, including a 50 megapixel main camera, an 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and, last but not least, a macro camera with 2 megapixels. The main sensor on the front has a resolution of 16 megapixels and the second camera is a TOF sensor, which should provide better portrait shots.
Honor V40: price and availability
The Honor V40 was initially only presented for the Chinese market, but this device will soon appear internationally as the View 40. Unfortunately, it is still unclear at this point in time whether it will come with Google services. The equivalent of the smaller version with 128 GB of flash memory costs 455 euros and double memory costs 50 euros more.
