Huawei MateBook 13: Cheaper successor to the MateBook X Pro vorgestellt

Huawei is also at this year CES 2019 represented in Las Vegas. There you have with that Kunpeng 920 not just a new one Prozessor presented, but also a new notebook. With a frontal attack on Apple's MacBook Air.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro we already have here TechnikNews tested. This was introduced last year - now the MateBook 13 is a cheaper brother fresh from Las Vegas. The successor has only been made a little smaller: instead of a 13,9-inch display, we find a 13-inch display with a resolution of "only" 2160 x 1440 pixels, in contrast to the 3K resolution of the Pro-Model.

Thinner than the MacBook Air and at the same time a competitor to the MateBook X Pro

At 14,9 millimeters, the MateBook 13 is thinner than Apple's currently thinnest model. I can't spontaneously think of a thinner ultrabook either. Like the MateBook X Pro the MateBook 13 should be available in two variants. At the moment, however, it is still unclear which configurations will make it to us in Germany and Austria, as this information is still quite fresh. The cheaper variant should be equipped with an Intel Core i5-8265U, together with a 256 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM. For a little more money there should be an i7-8565U with a 512 GB SSD and also 8 GB RAM. In addition, you should only have the chance of an integrated Nvidia MX150 graphics card with the most expensive variant.

There are two more USB-C Thunderbolt 3.1 ports on the sides - these can be used to connect all compatible Thunderbolt docks for power supply or data transmission. A headphone socket has also made it into the frame - but unfortunately a "normal" USB-A socket is no longer possible. Unlike the MateBook X Pro the webcam is now again above the touch display. A fingerprint sensor is integrated in the power button.

Prices and availability

From January 29th, the MateBook 13 will be available for $ 999 for the cheapest model and $ 1299 for the second variant in the US. The two color variants Mystic Silver and Space Gray are also available. However that is MateBook X Pro here probably your own competitor: With a similar equipment you start here at 1199 dollars - meanwhile that is Promodel from Huawei is even cheaper at some retailers. The prices and availability information for Germany and Austria have not yet been mentioned.
