Huawei introduces Kirin 980 at IFA 2018
It has been known for a long time, today officially: The Kirin 980 was officially presented today. The new Proprocessor is said to be a lot faster than the Snapdragon 845.
The new Kirin 980 will outshine all the others, at least that's what Richard Yu claims at the Huawei keynote at IFA 2018 in Berlin. This should be a lot faster and more efficient than its predecessor. So the GPU should be around 46 Procent faster and by 178 Procent more energy efficiency. Of the Prozessor is manufactured using the 7nm process – the first on the market.
Faster charging times and longer battery life thanks to new, economical technology
With a new technology for clustering the cores, a more economical core is to be used in the future for more economical apps in order to save battery. If you use the smartphone at full power, the system uses the “big” cores, the others run on the back burner. In addition, apps should start almost 845 seconds faster compared to the Snapdragon 0,2 - okay.
Compared to the Kirin 970, the new Proprocessor 20 in total Procent faster and 40 Probe more efficient. The Kirin 980 is equipped with a dual NPU. For better AI performance.
The comparisons seemed a bit strange during the keynote anyway, so the image quality between the Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 845 was compared. Such comparisons make no sense, but they are often used at Huawei. Again on to the innovations.
Using the new AI chipset, it should be possible to render certain people or things live from videos in order to be able to exchange the background. For this stuck in the new Prozessor 4×4 MIMO antennas, equipped with Cat. 21 (max. 1,4 Gbps in download). In addition, one wants to offer better reception with the new antennas. The new Kirin 980 is also fully 5G compatible.
