Apple's iTunes has been around for 18 years now. Then the provider thought that that Programs should go. Replacement will be at WWDC 2019 presented.

iTunes is truly an all-purpose tool when it comes to managing media. Music, podcasts, films and series find their home there. It was later added the option of getting apps for the iPhone and iPad. Backups of the devices could also be stored there if the iCloud is full. The tool is now 18 years old and it looks like it will no longer see its 19th birthday.

Alternatives are in sight

On Monday the great keynote held as part of the annual WWDC. From time to time, Apple also shows smaller software innovations in addition to the major new versions of its own operating system. According to various rumours, these small innovations include three Mac apps that are intended to replace iTunes. These are called music, podcasts and TV. Keeping your own music is in Music, while podcasts and TV shows are in their respective names Program slumber. Backups from devices with a bitten apple on the back end up in Music. On the first screenshots everything looks very promising. It is not yet clear what the future plans are for Windows. It is also not yet known where apps for the iPhone and iPad can be obtained.
