Microsoft: Surface power cord recall
As Microsoft now reports, the devices Surface ProSurface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 tablets for overheatingdanger of the power cord being recalled. All models sold before July 2015 are affected by the Microsoft recall.
The new Surface Pro 4, the Surface Book, and devices purchased after July 15 are not affected by the Microsoft recall. In the end, nothing has happened to the previous cables, but there is a risk. That's why Microsoft plays it safe and simply swaps out the cables from countless devices. Since it is probably only the cable from the power supply unit to the power plug, Microsoft should keep the costs within limits. However, if the charging cable does not have a detachable mains cable, the entire mains plug must be replaced.

The recall has started and the page is here to find. There is also more information about the Chargers. The exchange should be free of charge. Microsoft will replace the cables as quickly as possible and will then be sent back to the users. However, since several users have to exchange the cables, there may be longer waiting times.
