Microsoft: Sales of Windows 7 and 8.1 discontinued
All PC manufacturers should now preinstall Windows 10, but why?

Microsoft wants to convince more people to switch to Windows 10, even if you have to force them. Everything happened on Halloween, October 31, 2016. This ended the Windows 7 sale.
Installation is still possible
Even if new OEM licenses are no longer being sold, the older ones are still available. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 could be installed from disk and will therefore still exist. Many PC manufacturers will continue to preinstall Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 on their computers, you can be sure of that. However, this is only permitted if the manufacturer issues a later Upgrade to Windows 10 allows.
