More compact and cheaper: The Amazon Echo Show 5 is official

Yesterday Amazon presented the new Echo Show 5. He is the successor to the Echo Show, a loudspeaker with display and integrated Alexa. As the name suggests, the new model is only 5,5 inches instead of 10 inches. Thus more compact and at the same time cheaper.
Smart speakers with displays are becoming increasingly popular. On the one hand, there are models with the Google Assistant, such as the Google Nest Hub or Lenovo Smart Display (was already review with us). Then there is with that Facebook Portal also a model of the social media data octopus, which we don't really care about here. But that was pretty much the first model with a display Echo Show (in the meantime 2nd gen) and Echo Spot from Amazon. The first model is now also available in 5 inches at an affordable price.
Amazon Echo Show 5: Less than 100 euros with almost the same equipment
The new 5,5 inch little brother can do almost exactly the same thing as the big brother. The only thing that has now been improved is privacy. So there is now a physical slider to cover the camera. The microphone off button is also supposed to actually cut the electronic connection - and not just on the software side. With the show models from Amazon you can view news, the weather and various content on the display. In addition, all Amazon devices with a display have a dashboard for controlling all smart home devices. That doesn't exist here - this is just the big brother Echo Show (2nd gen) Reserved.

Listening to music is also possible. Only the speakers in the new model seem to be worse. You can only find one here 1,65 inch speakers with 4W, instead of 2 x 10W speakers with Dolby processing in the large model. However, the new model is a lot smaller and also costs less. So one calls up a price of 89,99 euros at the start of the market. The big brother with 10 inches, however, costs 229,99 euros.
The new Show 5 will be released on June 26th and will be available individually, in a bundle with a smart Amazon socket and with Ring Video Doorbell 2. As usual, the new speaker will only be available to buy directly from Amazon.
