Motorola G-Series: These changes are pending for smartphones
The Motorola g series began when they were still part of Google and probably got its last series with the G9.
That smartphone names are sometimes complicated is nothing new. Who still looks through Xiaomi's Mi, Redmi or Poco these days? Also Samsung had with the Proproblem to fight because they use a lot of letters. The A series has become much clearer since 2018. At Motorola, it used to be easier to keep track of the ranks. The Z-series and X-series are almost extinct, only g, e, one and edge remain. Only after the acquisition of Lenovo, the ranks were flooded with smartphones. New One devices were presented every two weeks and suddenly there were two new g generations pro Year.
Motorola g becomes double digits
According to research by TechnikNews and Adam conway the name of the g series is now to be changed. The g-series is being rebuilt like the A-series by Samsung. So there will be a g (10), g (20), g (30), and so on. This was last also from the well-informed Evan Blass approved. So he confirmed that Capri will appear as g (10) and Capri Plus as g (30) (we reported). Nio will appear internationally as g (100). This will connect the g and Edge series.
There will also be a g (20), which will be developed under the code name "java". The g (20) will be a lightweight entry-level device with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Whether this will apply to all markets is questionable as there are also indications that the Motorola g (10) will be marketed as the Moto g (10) Power in India. So I wouldn't be surprised if we can put the puzzle together in the next few weeks and assign the remaining code names such as “Ibiza” or “denver” with g (40) and so on.
Motorola capri | g (10) |
Motorola Java | g (20) |
Motorola Capri | g (30) |
Motorola nio | g (100) |
More will come soon about a Motorola mid-range device with a 108MP camera. Stay tuned!
