Netflix tests picture-in-picture players for desktop
Netflix is testing again. This time a picture-in-picture player for your own web app, which is already appearing for some users.
For some users, a new icon appears in the Netflix web player. This is for the new picture-in-picture player. When you press it, a small window appears in the top right corner, in which the current film or the current episode of a series appears.
Then it is possible to do other things while enjoying your Netflix content. This is particularly useful when you have a lot of work and only have one monitor available. While the small window is active, it can be moved and scaled freely. The miniplayer cannot (yet) display subtitles. Here the picture-in-picture mode of the Windows app is one step ahead of the picture-in-picture mode of the web app. Netflix has already confirmed that this feature is review phase. It is not known when a major rollout will take place.
