New update for Wear OS: Practical little innovations

Wear OS

Smartwatches with Wear OS as the operating system usually do not have an excellent battery life. That should now work out with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 change. Google now wants to improve the battery life of older smartwatches with an update for Wear OS. All details.

The energy saving mode is the first to receive a small innovation with the update. If the battery falls below ten percent, the watch can now only display the current time if desired. By comparison: previously, only the vibration motor, background activities and the creation of the location history were switched off in energy saving mode. The standby time has also been adjusted. If the user does not use their smartwatch for half an hour, the watch goes into a kind of energy saving mode, which is also intended to save a lot of battery.

Gradual roll out

In addition to the two things that can help improve battery life, Google worked on two other things. One thing that often bothers me is that apps are usually completely reset once they are closed. Google has now fixed this problem. It is also now easier to shut down your smartwatch with Wear OS. In the future, all you have to do is hold down the power button for a few seconds. How the Google Assistant will then be started is still up in the air. Google will gradually distribute this update to users with system version H over the next few months.
