OPPO is known for their Innovations in the smartphone and IoT segment. Now they are one of the first telecommunications companies to present their plans for the 6G network of the future.

To this end, OPPO published a so-called "Whitepaper". This comes from the in-house research institute.

6G: The new technological age

According to OPPO, at the beginning of the 6G era, the way people will interact with artificial intelligence in the future will change. One example is the use of intelligent devices. These download AI algorithms to different application levels, then use them and thereby create new immersive experiences.

A large part of the 6G network should continue to be popular in autonomous driving in the future. Here, the AI can be "fed" with location data (ambient data, weather), network with other AIs in the area and execute these algorithms. This then offers the safest and most comfortable journey for the passenger.

“Looking ahead to 2035, OPPO expects the number of smart devices worldwide to far exceed the population. Therefore, as the next generation of communication technology, 6G should be able to serve not only the needs of people, but all forms of intelligence and their various interactions. With this goal in mind, we carried out the first technical investigations and the system design, ”says Henry Tang, Head of 5G Research at OPPO

6G networks as a kind of new dimension

A little digression on the current situation of the networks, this can be divided precisely into 2 dimensions: the control plane (CP) and the user plane (UP). The UP is responsible for that part of the network performance that the user perceives in real time. So the latency and speed. The CP, on the other hand, is the closest link in the network configuration; this ensures normal network operation, taking various patterns into account. The UP can roughly be compared with vehicles in road traffic. In this case, the CP is the road traffic control.

OPPO shows "AI cube model"

6G will completely change the foundations of AI as we know it today. any ProProblems faced by the AI, for example when developing in data silos or with regard to data protection, are solved here. Since data protection has also become a very important topic in Germany in recent years, this aspect is also considered here.

In its whitepaper, OPPO suggests dividing the current AI resources into different "domains". This should make it easier to get optimal results from AI models in the future.

Since the intelligent devices hardly offer enough storage space for complex AI resources, a 6G network offers more than the necessary bandwidth.

What are the next steps?

AIs have been making our everyday lives easier since Alexa and many other assistants have been on the market. Of course, they don't always work the way we want them to, but a 6G network could change all that. ProThe problem here is the 5G expansion in Germany, Austria and many other countries, which is not even complete. What will it look like in a few years with 6G? We'll have to wait and hope then. But what you can conclude from OPPO's white paper is the continuation of the motto "Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World". I think that's a good thing, you're welcome to continue working on that.
