Overwatch: Mercy Rework Brings New Ultimate!

After the release of the new escort map Junkertown, the developers of Overwatch released extensive changes to the heroine Mercy. In addition to a new ability (E), the ultimate ability has also been reworked, which will be particularly good news for offensive Mercy players. Any changes in this article.

New Ultimate & Ability

Blizzard has long announced a rework of Mercy, but now the time has come. I already played them on the test server and can now give you exclusive insights! For many, this news may seem frightening: From now on, Muilt-Respawn is no longer possible, because the old Ultimate, in which you could revive up to 5 players at the same time, will soon be replaced by a new one: This is called "Valkyrie" and lets Mercy fly.

After activating the ultimate ability with Q as usual, you can fly through the air from mate to mate for a full 20 seconds (not to be confused with the Guardian Angel ability!) To heal it. The flight communities can be compared with the Minecraft Creative Flight. But where is the well-known respawn? This is now to be used as skill (E). You can revive a mate every 30 seconds. During the Ultimate, this cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds, so that you can revive up to 2 mates during an Ultimate.

New potential

Many may miss the multi-respawn, as it can lead the team to a big comeback, but the potential of the individual respawn should not be underestimated. In this way, you can revive strong players and important tanks in a more targeted manner. In addition, thanks to the new Ultimate Mercy, you can play much more offensively. You can also use the flight time to kill opposing players or to get to the target point in the last second. This change will especially please so-called "Battlemercys", which now have completely new possibilities open to them.

But the healer will have the most potential in the 3v3 arcade mode. Because she can effectively revive the mates who have already been dead for the rest of the round - every 30 seconds. So Mercy will probably soon be the strongest hero in 3vs3 mode.

Reasons for the rework

The reasons for the drastic changes are practically obvious. Of course, everyone is happy about a multi-respawn in their own team, but if you have made a multiple kill with a lot of skill and your ultimate and the opposing Mercy destroys all your work with a click on Q and revives the players, then you are afterwards pretty upset. In addition, you don't need a lot of skill for multi-respawn, as you only have to press one button. Due to the rework, it will now require a little more skill to play Mercy. In addition, the healer only had one additional ability (guardian angel) until now.
