Service Unavailable - DNS failure: Akamai malfunction makes numerous websites inaccessible

Currently, the error message “Service Unavailable – DNS failure” is likely to appear on numerous websites on the Internet. A disruption in the Content Delivery Network (CDN) provider Akamai is currently the cause of the Proproblems. What can you do there?

Like Akamai currently on its own status page posts, there is currently a problem with the "Edge DNS" service of the Provids. Similar to Cloudflare, Akamai sits between the website's server and the visitor who wants to access the site. The protective infrastructure - in this case from Akamai - thus protects the target server from attacks.

Akamai Edge DNS down: Web pages cannot be reached

Sometimes it is falsely claimed that the Internet is out of order. Not true, it just feels like that because numerous websites use Akamai's infrastructure and are thus affected. As a user, there is currently nothing else you can do but wait and see. Such disturbances occur quite often and are no cause for alarm. Among other things, currently known websites such as Steam, PSN, Chip, Focus Online, Cyberport and OnePlus cannot be reached.

Update at 18:39 p.m.: The Proproblem seems to be fixed again, most affected websites are back online.
