Snapchat in a new look: This is what the redesign looks like

Like Snapchat in a blog post announces that they are currently in the process of rolling out a new design for the messenger. The Snapchat update is intended to separate content from friends and media even more and prevent them from mixing together. The reason for this is the fake news.

The update aims to make it easier for users to prodifferentiate professional content from editorial offices more clearly from information from friends. So far, the messenger had mixed several contents together. Stories from friends were displayed under "Discover" along with editorial content. They now want to put an end to the phenomenon of fake news more actively - with a new design that should bring some changes with it. The areas will be reorganized for this purpose.

Left area: friends and social affairs

You will see the biggest change on the left side of the app. This is where everything social should happen in the future. Stories, chats, friends and snaps can all be found there. The stories should then be like on Instagram, with an animated circle above the Profilbild that represents his friend's Bitmoji.

A text should be displayed in the respective chat when a friend adds something to his story. Thus, the list of all chats is constantly re-ordering. How Snapchat will deal with spam here is still unclear. However, a self-learning algorithm should ensure order here. There are no other changes to the functions. Only the menu when sending a snap has also been given a new look.

Right area: media and content from editorial offices

With the new update, you will only find content from editorial offices and media in the right-hand area. There should be no more mixing of stories from friends and other news. Contents that are displayed there should have been checked beforehand. There should also be more German news in the future.

In the media, too, an algorithm should organize the news according to the interests of the user and display more relevant content higher up for the user in the future. How this will work in practice and how data protectionists will react is still uncertain.

The update should even be available this week for a smaller user area. Presumably this will mean the beta users. It could take a few more weeks before it reaches the masses. There is another video here from Snapchat on the YouTube channel.
