Sonos Move 2 presented: portable speaker improved all around
It was almost exactly four years ago that Sonos released the first generation of the portable speaker showed – now the Sonos Move 2 is here. Sonos has brought this up to date in every nook and cranny. So there is a new look, longer music fun and much more.
In a nutshell: Sonos is relaunching the portable speaker with its successor. This involves adopting the new volume slider from the Era 100 and It was 300, offers up to 24 hours of battery life at a time and comes in the new “Olive” color. The successor also now supports stereo sound. The new Move 2 will also be available in this country in just a few weeks. It also now costs 100 euros more than its predecessor.
Fresh surface, more endurance, better sound
Since 2019, Sonos has seemingly completely forgotten about the Move - now the portable speaker is being replaced by its successor. The Sonos Move was the manufacturer's first mobile speaker that can be used both on the go and indoors. Thanks to the automatic Trueplay tuning, this should always find the perfect sound setting, regardless of the environment. Fans can be happy because Sonos has turned a few screws. The Move 2 uses a new sound architecture with two tweeters and a woofer, which is intended to offer stereo sound.
Also new is the significantly longer battery life of up to 24 hours, instead of just 10 hours in the predecessor. The energy consumption in standby mode is also said to have been reduced by up to 40%. With the Move 2, the whole package is also available in a new interface, i.e. the volume slider from the Era series.
Prices and availability
The new color variant “Olive” also joins the color variants black and white. For all of these features, buyers will have to pay 499 euros (RRP). The Move 2 will be available worldwide from September 20, 2023.
