Sony Xperia 5 IV introduced: Huge battery in a compact body
The Japanese manufacturer Sony officially presented the new Sony Xperia 5 IV almost quietly and secretly today. Compared to the predecessor, a lot has changed, especially in terms of battery size.
The 5 series from Sony has been known for its compact size for a number of years and this is of course also the case with the new 5 IV, which with a screen diagonal of 6,1 inches is significantly smaller than most of the other competitors.
Sony Xperia 5 IV specifications
As already mentioned, the Xperia 5 IV comes with a compact 6,1-inch display, which is very narrow due to the long 21:9 aspect ratio. Of course, it is a high-quality OLED panel with a resolution of 2.520 x 1.080 pixels, which should be completely sufficient for everyday use. There is also a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm, which is supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
The biggest feature concerns the battery, because it is actually a proud 5.000 mAh in size, which is extremely impressive for such a compact smartphone. For comparison, the significantly larger Xperia 1 IV is also equipped with a 5.000 mAh battery. Unfortunately, charging takes a little long. The smartphone should go from 30 to 0 in 50 minutes Procent loaded, which is below average nowadays. After all, it finally supports wireless charging. The predecessor did not have this feature. Stereo speakers and a 3,5 mm jack are on board.
Sony relies on tried and tested sensors for the cameras. The main camera has a resolution of 12 megapixels and has an average size of 1/1.7 inch. There is also an ultra wide-angle camera with 12 megapixels and a 12 megapixel telephoto camera with a focal length of 60 mm.
Prices, colors and availability
The Sony Xperia 5 IV is available in black, white and green for a recommended retail price of 1.049 euros. If you order the smartphone by October 9th, you will receive the Sony LinkBuds S for free. Deliveries will begin on September 26th.
