The GDPR is here: this is new on TechnikNews

The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR for short) came into force on Wednesday. We too from TechnikNews fall under the new regulation and have adapted our pages accordingly. The new regulation also brings more transparency for you - in our new data protection declaration we have disclosed all information about the use of your data on our website. We have also implemented some technical changes, such as the opt-out from our visitor tracking. All information about this can be found in our great article on the GDPR update TechnikNews.

WhatsApp uses GDPR loophole and now shares user data with Facebook

A news this week caused a lot of excitement on the net. This week, WhatsApp confirmed the transfer of user data to Facebook in the updated data protection declaration. Specifically, this is your telephone number, data on your smartphone and installed software. Your usage behavior is also shared within the app. As early as 2016, a German data protection activist passed a law against this exchange of data. However, this has been repealed with the GDPR - a new draft of this law is in progress. We have put together what else is important for users in our article.

With the Mi Band and the successor Mi Band 2, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has hit the jackpot in Europe as well as China. It is one of the best-selling fitness trackers on our market. The tracker, which can be had for just under 30 euros, is now entering its third round. For some time now, pictures and details of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 have been appearing on the Internet. In addition to the leak a few weeks ago, this week there are some details ready. According to GizmoChina, the fitness tracker should have IP67 certification, which makes it waterproof. HTC U12 + presented: the smartphone without buttons

This is the HTC U12 Plus - without physical hardware buttons and notch. (Image: HTC)

On Wednesday afternoon, HTC officially let the HTC U12 Plus out of the bag. The smartphone, which is supposed to completely change "the way you interact with a smartphone", does not need any physical buttons on the side. Instead, there are bumps embedded in the metal, which give back vibration feedback when touched. So there is no more wobbling of any buttons. Still innovative in times of boring innovations in smartphones. To the specs:

The HTC U12 + comes with a 6-inch Super-LCD6 screen with HDR10 and DCI-P3 support and a resolution of 2280 x 1440 pixels. In contrast to other smartphones, there is no "notch", the recess at the top of the display. The latest Snapdragon 845 with 6 GB of RAM sits under the hood. We only have 64GB of internal storage to choose from. However, this can be expanded using a micro SD card. The HTC U12 Plus will appear on our market in the colors Ceramic Black, Flame Red and Translucent Blue from mid-July. The price of 800 euros is still set pretty high for this equipment.

Essential Phone: Manufacturer of the hype smartphone probably bankrupt

The Essential Phone - Incidentally, the first smartphone with a "Notch“ – which came directly from Android founder Andy Rubin, even generated a little hype. In the summer of 2017, after some Problem also delivered the first phones - and have the first test reports rather disappointed. The reason for the bad reviews was the smartphone's camera. They wanted to improve this with the successor, Essential Phone 2, which will probably never come. Noisy Bloomberg should the Proproduction of the Essential Phone 2 may have been discontinued. In addition, they are probably also looking for a new buyer for Essential.
