FRITZ! OS 7: The latest version of the AVM boxes is here
The new FRITZ! OS from AVM should be published in July 2018. After a few beta versions in the last few weeks, the update should now be rolled out on all current boxes. The first two candidates are the FRITZ! 7590 and the FRITZ! 7580. The update is currently not available for the boxes, but has to be downloaded and imported manually.
The new version brings numerous changes in terms of mesh, WLAN frequencies and stability. The boxes also now support external extensions with the HAN-FUN protocol. The new FRITZ!OS will be rolled out in waves in the coming weeks, first on the newest models and then on older boxes.
Windows 10: Autonomous restarts should be improved
Who doesn't get on their nerves: You walk away from the computer for a moment and when you come back, Windows 10 installs updates by itself. Microsoft now wants to prevent these and similar cases in the future. With a new algorithm, the system should automatically recognize whether a user is only away from the PC for a short time or stays away for a longer period of time. This is supposed to make it impossible to find out whether it makes sense to carry out an automatic restart.
In the future, the new system will probably come with an update on our computers.
Apptest: Is Newton the perfect mail alternative to Gmail?
This week David Haydl tested a mail alternative to Gmail with Newton. The app should offer some advantages compared to Gmail with smart functions. With so-called “superchargers” you can receive read confirmations or integrate other apps into your own mailbox. Membership costs a little, but it gives you access to the apps for Android and iOS and a mail client for Windows.
Android Oreo: Distribution should go well
Google has published current statistics on the Android operating systems on the market. These show that Android Oreo is already running on one in ten smartphones. In May 2018, 5,7 percent of all smartphones were said to be running on Android 8.x, but by mid-July this figure is said to be 12,1 percent. Android 23,5 Nougat is still the leader with 7.0 percent.
It will be exciting to see how the coming Android 9.0 P will distribute.
TechnikNews Test: Libratone Track + Wireless Headphones
Our second came on Saturday TechnikNews This week's review. The new Libratone Track + Wireless in-ear headphones were review. The headphones scored particularly well in the categories of design, sound and workmanship. Furthermore, the headphones come with their own noise-canceling technology called "CityMix". With this, the headphones should be able to block out background noise in a very smart way, depending on the environment.
You can read in our test how that worked and how the headphones were convincing overall.
Pixel 3 (XL): This is what the new Google flagship should look like
For a few days, new leaks and renders for Google's new flagship have been appearing on the internet regularly. The smartphone, which, like current flagships, should be equipped with a notch, can now be seen completely with a render for the first time. Similar pictures with a cover have also appeared on the Internet. As always, you shouldn't always fully trust these images.
Google Chrome 68: The new design is getting closer
This week, too, the news about the new design in version 68 of Google Chrome continued. We already had a few weeks ago in this article Thumbnails of the new Google Chrome design shown. There are now detailed instructions on how to use the new design in your own browserprocan beer.
Under Windows the following must be entered in the address line: chrome: // flags / # top-chrome-md - then select the item "Refresh" and restart Google Chrome. Under macOS, the item chrome: // flags / # views-browser-windows must also be activated. Here, too, the browser has to be restarted.

Mesh: One of the biggest shame ever. Why did you introduce such garbage in the first place.
If this is more mature and widespread in the future, I will see clear advantages in the next few years - even across manufacturers.
