We have already passed the second calendar week of the new year. This week got up TechnikNews especially the CES 2019 in Las Vegas in the foreground. But we also covered a few other events in the tech world. The summary is now here in TechnikNews weekly.

CES 2019

As every year, the CES 2019 took place in Las Vegas this week. Various manufacturers showed their new technologyProproducts. You saw pretty much everything from new smart TVs to new audio gadgets. And we reported on as many innovations as we could. Here is a list of the most read CES new products.

Redesigned Razer Blade 15

You were probably interested in the new Razer Blade 15. In practical terms, this device is not new, but technically it is. So far there was a GTX 15 from Nvidia in the Razer Blade 1060. The more powerful GeForce RTX graphics cards are now working in the new models. In the most expensive variant, you get a current Core i7, 16 gigabytes of RAM and a two terabyte SSD together with an RTX 2080. The new configurations of the Blade 15 will be available from January 29th in the Razer online shop.

Competition for the Echo Spot: Lenovo Smart Clock

The Lenovo Smart Clock is the little brother of the Lenovo Smart Display that was shown at CES last year. The Smart Clock has a four-inch display with a resolution of 800 × 400 pixels. At the back of the gadget there is a USB-A port, a charging port and a mute switch. The speakers are covered by a fabric cover. Lenovo did not install a webcam. The operating system is Android Things, which we already know from other smart displays. The Google Assistant responds to the key phrase “Okay, Google!”.

iTunes and Airplay 2 for Samsung Smart TVs

The CES article that got the most hits was the one where we wrote about the upcoming arrival of iTunes and Airplay 2 on Samsung smart TVs. From next spring, the two services can be used on all models from the current year. TV sets from last year are supplied with iTunes and Airplay 2 via software updates. You can then even play 4K content from your own library via iTunes.

Android Pie for Wear OS watches

This week wasn't all about the technology fair in Las Vegas. We also published an article on Android Pie. This time, buyers of a fourth-generation Fossil smartwatch reported that the latest Android version was available at once. To do this, however, you have to click the “System Updates” button several times. However, this trick didn't work on my Fossil Q Explorist HR.

One month experience with Apple Pay

Apple Pay started in Germany about a month ago. Since then, our editor Kevin has been able to test the service extensively because he has a supported iPhone and an account with a partner bank. Most of the time, Apple Pay works in stores with an NFC terminal at the checkout proflawlessly, according to Kevin. However, he also wrote in his post that he cannot pay with Apple Pay in shops like Fressnapf or at the Asian shop around the corner, because it didn't work there despite the existing NFC payment device. He hasn't bought online shops yet probeers.

Galaxy S10 series launch event announced

The Galaxy S23 series smartphones will be unveiled on February 10 in San Francisco, California. According to our time, the event starts at 20 p.m. in the evening. Samsung will present the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S10 Lite at the event. The event can be followed on the Samsung homepage, where a live stream is provided. It is currently unclear whether there will be real-time transmission on Facebook and Twitter.
