Telegram: Update brings location-based chats, among other things

A major update for Telegram is currently rolling out. Among other things, this brings with it location-based chats and the simple exchange of contact details.
The new update brings two major innovations for Telegram and several smaller improvements. The first big news is location-based group chats. Under “Contacts” there is a new entry “People nearby” with the update. There the app lists all open groups for specific locations in the vicinity. As an example: Telegram shows in their own blog an open group "Moe's Bar".
The second new feature concerns the exchange of contacts. In “Contacts”, the entry “Add people nearby” appears above “People nearby”. You can use it to easily add the Telegram contact of people close by to your friends list - without giving away a phone number. If you are contacted by a person who is not yet saved in your own list, you can add this via a button. Alternatively, there is the block button next to it.
Telegram update: Siri shortcuts, change group rights and more
Now there are a few minor changes to follow.
With the update, the developers made it easier to pass on group and channel ownership rights. If a person has administrator rights, ownership can be transferred to them with a tap on a button. Siri Shortcuts now allows you to send messages with your voice. Furthermore, with the latest version of the messenger you get a manager for the administration of exceptions for notifications. Last but not least: New options for personalizing the iOS app. A “theme picker” and the option to change the app icon were built into the settings.
By the way: We from TechnikNews also have an open telegram group. If you are interested, you can here join.
