Huawei P20: These are the specs
The Huawei P20 comes with a 5,8-inch RGBW display with a resolution of 2.240 x 1.080 pixels. Thanks to the “Natural Tune” display, there is also a white value that is intended to achieve more display brightness. According to Huawei, this should also consume less battery compared to its predecessor. In addition, for the first time in the P series there is a "notch" - a recess in the display like the one on the iPhone X. Update: However, this can be deactivated in the settings. Inside, the Huawei P20 comes with the latest Kirin 970 processor with AI chip and 4GB RAM. The internal memory has a maximum capacity of 128GB.
Two Leica cameras with a resolution of 20 and 12 megapixels are installed on the back. The front camera takes photos with a resolution of 24 megapixels. Videos are stabilized using "Huawei AIS" with a maximum resolution of 4K. As with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, an AI is used for the camera. It is said to be able to recognize over 500 photo scenarios and optimize the photo depending on the subject. The autofocus is said to be revolutionary fast - the fastest on the smartphone market.
There is also a 3400mAh battery with Huawei Speed Charge, which should charge the device to 30 percent in 60 minutes. According to Huawei, this should last almost 2 days. There is also a USB-C 3.1 connector on the bottom for charging and connecting to the PC. Despite the narrow display edges, the fingerprint sensor has remained on the front and you can operate the smartphone using gesture control. Another special feature is noise cancellation through AI, so you can make clear phone calls even in windy conditions.
The Huawei P20 in the colors Twilight, Pink Gold, Midnight Blue, Graphite Black will come onto the market from the beginning of April for a price of 649 euros.
Huawei P20 Pro: All details
The Huawei P20 Pro is also exciting. It comes with a 6,1 inch OLED display with RGBW technology and a resolution of 2.240 x 1.080 pixels and a pixel density of 408ppi. In addition, there is a narrow notch on the top of the display - and this can also be deactivated in the settings. As in the P20, there is a Kirin 970 here, together with 6GB of RAM. The internal memory is 128GB.
On the back we find a triple camera with three lenses. These should be able to score points with 40 megapixels + 20 megapixels + 8 megapixels, especially at night. An aperture of f/1.8 is installed for this - with an ISO value of 120 400(!). Comparable to a Canon 5D Mark IV for a price of just under 3500 euros. In the DXO Mark, the camera of the Huawei P20 Pro achieved the highest value so far: 109 points, which is 10 points ahead of the Galaxy S9+In addition, the main cameras should be able to record super slow motion at 960fps. The front camera takes selfies with 24 megapixels. As with the P20, the AI helps with taking photos with optimization depending on the option. 5x lossless zoom is also possible with the Huawei P20 Pro.
The battery used here is a battery with a capacity of 4000mAh with Huawei Quick Charge. The battery life should be around 2 days. In addition, the Huawei P20 Pro is waterproof and dustproof thanks to IP67 certification. There is no jack plug on either smartphone, but an adapter is included. The AI is also said to make a big contribution to performance and battery life. Both smartphones also come with EMUI 8.1 and Android 8.1 as standard. A nice feature on both smartphones is a 360-degree face unlock, which is said to be faster than on the iPhone X, and Dolby Atmos speakers on both devices.
The Huawei P20 comes to us in the colors Twilight, Pink Gold, Midnight Blue, Graphite Black. It should be available from the beginning of April for a price of 899 euros.
Huawei P20 Lite: The cheapest in the range
The entry-level smartphone is the Huawei P20 Lite. This one has a 5,8-inch display. It does not have AI, so it is also much cheaper. The processor is a Kirin 659 with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone only offers half as much space for media with 64GB. The dual main camera has a resolution of 16 and 12 megapixels, and the front camera takes 16-megapixel selfies. There is also no fingerprint sensor on the front - this is found on the back.
This is now available from us in the colors "Klein Blue", "Sakura Pink", "Midnight Black" and "Platinum Gold" for a price of 369 euros.
An addition for your article: the notch can be deactivated in the settings for all smartphones from Emui 8.1, it is only software-based.
Hello Hannes! Thanks for your addition, I added 🙂
What? I was really excited about the P20, but the notch was a thorn in my side / display.
Cool info!
And then another say Huawei is not innovative 😉
But Huawei no longer has any other reasons to buy than the camera, right?
But this is also the case with other manufacturers, not just Huawei. There are simply no more killer arguments.
In the past, a cheap smartphone was an argument, but those days are over 🙁
Huawei and boring? It's no surprise because besides bad software and no jack, there are simply no advantages over Samsung or Apple
who still listens to music through jack these days? Software could really be better and more independent.
Who doesn't listen to music through the jack? 😉
Bluetooth only eats the battery, especially on my P9 Lite, now I finally need a new one!
i hardly know any people anymore ... bluetooth shouldn't usually eat up that much battery either, maybe it's just because of your p9 lite
Now everyone doesn't exaggerate so much, I think the smartphone is really successful. Finding at least one reason to buy is good!
From my point of view, this worked out almost perfectly.
Nearly perfect? It's perfect, there is nothing better on the market. Even better than an SLR
Smartphones will never outperform a SLR - not just because of the size of the lenses. But now smartphone cameras are really useful, I don't want to doubt that.
The camera is perfect. The Huawei have always been at the forefront.
Nonsense. For example, to have a high-performance smartphone with not overloaded software.
