With the current WhatsApp beta version 2.16.254 it is possible to mention others in groups. However, this function cancels the muting of the chat and makes groups even more annoying.

As everyone knows, annoying groups or chats can be muted in Messenger. Here you could also choose that no notifications should be displayed at all. However, this will change with the upcoming update - you should be mentioned in a group with an @. The mentioned user receives a notification even if he has muted the chat.

This is how other users can be mentioned

It's often chaotic in groups. You quickly lose track of things and therefore want to mention the affected contact directly in a message. Should you latest WhatsApp beta for Android, you just have to type an "@" and then select the contact or number you want to mention. But the whole thing also has disadvantages: even if you have muted the group, you will still receive a notification with this mention.

We'll see if the whole thing won't degenerate into spam. However, this feature is still review phase. It is therefore to be expected that WhatsApp will fine-tune the function before the official release in the store.

At some point I will separate myself from WhatsApp, verseprochen! These unnecessary features really annoy me.
