Xiaomi: No more Google services can be installed with MIUI 12.5 in China
As everyone has probably noticed in the past few weeks, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has been upgraded by the Trump administration Blacklisted. This states that American companies are no longer allowed to invest in Xiaomi. The manufacturer then sued the USA.
The Google apps could still be installed in China, although they are actually forbidden and many do not need them at all, as other apps are predominantly used in China. Information recently emerged that the Google services in China can no longer be reinstalled. The latest update to MIUI 12.5 should prevent the Google apps from being reinstalled. However, this only applies to the Chinese versions of the Xiaomi smartphones and NOT to the global versions that can be bought here in Europe. So who is at TradingShenzhen for example that Xiaomi Mi 11 imported, could lose the already installed Google services in the future and also not be able to reinstall them. We therefore recommend anyone who has already imported a Xiaomi smartphone not to install the update to MIUI 12.5 for the time being.
Xiaomi has already commented on this and confirmed all this information. It is still unclear at this point in time whether the USA or Google had their fingers in the game. We will keep you up to date as soon as there is something new to report.
