OPPO ColorOS 12 pre-release outprobet: More personal than ever

ColorOS 12 is OPPO's new operating system based on Android 12. I've already been able to preview it for a few weeksprobeer You can find out what's new here.
First of all, if you want to know in general which new features ColorOS 12 brings with it, you can read them in my last article about the introduction of ColorOS 12 read up. It is now being distributed to the first devices as a stable version.

ColorOS 12: Personalization is in the foreground
With the previous system "ColorOS 11", OPPO has taken a big step in the right direction to offer users more personalization options and more freedom. With ColorOS 12, OPPO has raised this bar once again.
Homescreen is experiencing subtle innovations
How is that possible? Let's start with the new UI design.
- At first glance, there are no major changes to be seen on the home screen. But if you take a closer look ... (Image: TechnikNews)
- Also on board, the new Android 12 widgets from Google. (Image: TechnikNews)
- What is very interesting are the quick toggles. These are now bigger and should be easier to press than before. (Image: TechnikNews)
I really liked the new clock & weather widget. I really like it, it reliably shows the weather and (of course) the time and the current date. Regarding the quick toggles, I can say that they are definitely easier to press or to reach. By the way, when you pull down the notification bar or the quick toggle menu, the background is blurred. I haven't noticed that so far. It's not a new feature, but it does make for a better overall picture.
The texts under the quick toggles can now all be scrolled. Depending on how many letters were previously under one of these buttons, they slipped differently into a new column. At least in my alpha version/pre-release, which I was allowed to test here, the new scrolling was not the case. But OPPO promised this "formattingprobleme" - which even Google and Apple have - to be improved or eliminated with over 30 language teams in the global space. I'm curious.
SuperVOOC in a new style
- The charging animations also got a make-over. Here the SuperVOOC 2.0 animation. (Image: TechnikNews)
- The AirVOOC animations should of course not be missing. (Image: TechnikNews)
- SuperVOOC or AirVOOC is now also displayed in the new battery settings. In a large charge indicator. (Image: TechnikNews)
SuperVOOC gets a new make-over. Not only have the charging animations been given a more uniform look, but the battery settings have also been given a new, tidy area. This now even includes an app consumption display with statistics.
Settings very intuitive and tidier
- The settings in OPPO's ColorOS offer many options. These are now even easier and more recognizable than ever before. (Image: TechnikNews)
- The shapes of the quick toggles can still be customized. This time even with names of the respective shape. (Image TechnikNews)
- The great personalization menu also gets a new design here. Four main tiles show the largest setting options. (Image: TechnikNews)
The settings have always been very extensive. However, they are now easier to understand and have been given better translations. The animated tutorials, which are intended to introduce newcomers to ColorOS, are also new.
As mentioned, the personalization menu has four main tiles: Background images, AOD, symbols and the quick settings or quick toggles. What stands out here is that there are now also online background images. In addition to the built-in ones, you can (hopefully) also be provided with stylish new background images in the future.
Material You by OPPO?
- With a color wheel, you can pretty much choose your accent color. (Image: TechnikNews)
- There are now more colors in "ColorOS" than before. With ready-made color schemes and your own individual color tones. (Image: TechnikNews)
- There is also a kind of material you, like the one that Google introduced in their Android 12 version. The background image determines the accent colors. (Image: TechnikNews)
I really like the new color options. They reflect the adaptability of ColorOS very well and show that OPPO is working very innovatively on their software. I also like the color selection through the background image very much. This already works excellently in the preliminary version.
Always On Display 2.0

The AOD from OPPO already got many new functions with ColorOS 11. Now in ColorOS 12 there is a better menu as well as a few new animations and clock styles. (Image: TechnikNews)
Something has also changed with the Always On Display. There are now individually adapted options such as patterns, text or text with an image and silhouette. There are also additional categories such as digital clocks, analog clocks, animations or images under “Provided by the system”. The AOD should also save even more electricity than before. I'm curious.
My conclusion on ColorOS 12
I can't and won't give a proper conclusion in the short time since it was a pre-release version. But I can say that I really like the new features in the complete package. I can hardly wait to be able to use it on my Find X3 Pro this December. The pre-release version worked really well and didn't cause me any major problems.
Of course, as soon as I have received the update, after a few months my complete review of ColorOS 12 will follow in everyday life, as I have not mentioned all the new features here. In addition, of course, a YouTube video will follow in the future, where we will take a look at everything in detail.
What is your opinion of ColorOS 12 now? Do you like the innovations? Does your device even support ColorOS 12? Let me know in the comments.
