The iPhone 6 still has to prove itself against all new competitors on the market. This is also the case with the new challenger from LG. The Koreans bet with theirs new G4 on extravagant leather and a particularly powerful battery. The test shows how the new flagship from LG fares against the iPhone 6 from Apple.

Leather versus aluminum

LG is taking a comparatively unusual path with the G4 and is presenting an edition in stylish leather. Unfortunately, the "normal" version comes in rather disgusting plastic. If you have the 50 euros more available, you should definitely consider choosing the noble leather version. Apple's iPhone 6 is not available in leather, but can convince with a balanced combination of plastic and high-quality aluminum. Although the display of the iPhone 6 no longer has a sapphire crystal compared to its predecessor, it is still scratch-resistant.

LG G4 at AnTuTu only in the middle

Even if the benchmark tests do not correspond to an everyday test, they do provide an indication of the smartphone's computing power. Above all, the AnTuTU benchmark is one of the prominest. The LG G4 achieves a point value of almost 43.000 here, at best a good average in the ranks of smartphone bolides. Apple's iPhone beats the LG in a direct comparison with 53.000 points. However, the calculation difference is not noticeable in everyday use. Both devices can be described as extremely high-performance and do not exhibit any stuttering.

Display comparison - crisp and sharp

Basically, both smartphones resolve images and photos and are of the best quality. The iPhone only weakens a bit in very strong sunlight. The display resolution of the iPhone 6 is also somewhat disappointing. As with the predecessor, it is 1334 x 750 pixels. The LG, on the other hand, impresses with its depth of detail and very good readability. Colors are displayed crisp and sharp and the readability when surfing is generally excellent. Thanks to the high resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, the LG G4 impresses with its very high pixel density. In direct comparison to the LG G4, the display of the iPhone 6 does not look blurry.

Camera - iPhone with fast auto focus

If you take a photo with the iPhone 6 for the first time, you will immediately notice the fast autofocus. In addition, the comparatively low resolution camera with 8 megapixels can take very good pictures in daylight. However, the camera weakens when taking pictures at dusk or at night. In addition, there is no optical image stabilizer. The LG G4 comes up trumps here. On the one hand, the camera has a far higher resolution of 16 megapixels and also has the widest aperture of all previous smartphones. The aperture of f / 1.8 allows excellent shots with an almost unseen depth of detail, even in low light. It forgives even restless hands and avoids significantly blurred images.

battery performance

LG equips its new bolide with a huge battery of 3000 mAh hours, which is also exchangeable. Now a real specialty, as almost all manufacturers, like Apple with the iPhone 6, rely on permanently installed energy storage devices. With just one charge, the LG G4 can run for almost 1,5 days, even with intensive use. With less use, even a full 2 days are possible. Apple's iPhone 6, on the other hand, has a weak battery. As with its predecessor, Apple disappoints its users here too. If you use the iPhone 6 intensively, you only get a day and only very little.

Price history

Even before the new iPhone 6 was released, it was clear that this would be Apple's most expensive smartphone. And so the recommended retail price of the new flagship with 128 GB of memory was a whopping 900 euros at the market launch. The LG G200 is already available for 4 euros less. Even if the devices from LG are known to decrease in value, the iPhone models also lose more than half of their value after about 2 years. If you want to do without the high market prices and still want the LG G4 or the iPhone 6 right away, you should take a closer look.

Conclusion

As with most smartphones, in the end it all comes down to personal taste. In addition, both models differ significantly in the use of two different operating systems, Android and iOS. In view of the large price difference and the good features, the LG G4 is a good choice. It has all the necessary properties that make a well-equipped smartphone. Above all, the long-lasting battery and the brilliant camera make the LG a reliable and loyal companion, be it on vacation or in everyday life.

If you prefer style and chic and can ignore a weak battery, you can choose the iPhone6. With fast autofocus and good performance, it is certainly not a bad choice, albeit a more expensive one.
