In the Apple cosmos, most iPhone users can no longer imagine everyday life without an Apple Watch. With the new Apple Watch Series 6 disinherited Apple now the Series 5. Our first impression of the new Apple Smartwatch.

The sixth generation of the Apple Watch has now arrived. Over the years, new, more or less useful functions have been added to watchOS and the watch itself. The highlight this year is the measurement of the oxygen content in the blood.

There are only changes to the appearance of the colors

The appearance of the Apple Watch has hardly changed in recent years. There are two different wrist sizes, 40 mm and 44 mm, and you can choose between an LTE and a GPS version. But with the Series 6, the Californians are launching two new colors - namely "Navy Blue" and "Product Red". The "Navy Blue" looks like the blue option of the new iPhone 12 very similar.

No earth-shattering innovations

Not only has the Apple Watch Series 6 not changed visually compared to its predecessors, but rather brought in internal improvements instead of revolutions. This year, a sensor for measuring blood oxygen was also installed, which should indicate possible oxygen deficiencies in the blood, in order to protect its users from any health problems Proshould warn.

For this purpose, an additional app is pre-installed on the Apple Watch Series 6, with which you can measure your blood oxygen independently of time. All you need is a quiet place and your index finger to take measurements. Alternatively, the optical sensor - installed below the Apple Watch - measures the saturation at intervals and provides information about it.

Significantly brighter always-on display than ever before

With the Apple Watch Series 5, the tech company from Cupertino introduced the always-on display. Now, a year later, the LTPO panel is upgraded, which lights up significantly brighter on the Apple Watch Series 6 in the dark. A difference to the predecessor can also be seen in high brightness, because the panel is brighter and more visible than before. I noticed this clearly during my use and was pleasantly surprised.

The battery life is much better without a permanently lit display

If you don't need the always-on display permanently, you can save a lot of electricity by deactivating the permanent state. With this you can easily get through two days - with normal use. However, if you don't want to do without the innovations, you have to expect to put your Apple Watch Series 6 back on the loading area at the end of the day.

My first conclusion about the Apple Watch Series 6

Since day one, I've been wearing the Apple Watch Series 6 almost every minute and, like the predecessor, have hardly any criticism to criticize. In my opinion, innovations such as blood oxygen measurement are hardly necessary for a healthy person like me, but a nice-to-have to get an overview of your own health at any time. The display more or less helped me in different scenarios with its increased brightness and the price has also remained the same.

The detailed review of the Apple Watch Series 6 will follow in a few weeks TechnikNews.
