Dreame D10s Plus review: The best vacuum robot with suction station under 500 euros

Some time ago Dreame introduced the D10s Plus, the successor to the popular D10 Plus. I found out for you what the new robot with suction station has to offer and whether it is worth buying.
The design of the D10s Plus hasn't really changed compared to its predecessor, apart from the color. However, it now offers some new features, such as 3D obstacle detection via a camera built into the front. You can read below what else the robot has to offer and whether I can recommend it to you.

tl; dr
The Dreame D10s Plus completely convinced me review. I was very positively surprised by the overall performance. The suction power is really very good and was always sufficient in everyday life. The same applies to navigation and obstacle detection. The robot always found its way around easily and never failed to vacuum individual areas. It usually detects obstacles reliably and avoids them, which I find quite strong for this price. The design and workmanship are also very chic. The app is also pretty well implemented and easy to use. The only point that I didn't like so much is the rather weak wiping function, which doesn't really matter in this price range since it's primarily a vacuum robot.
For the reasons mentioned, I can recommend the Dreame D10s Plus to anyone who is looking for a robot vacuum with a suction station and can live with the simple wiping function. The robot is available at all common electronics stores, such as MediaMarkt, Saturn and Amazon, as well as at Dreame itself in the online shop for around 450 to 500 euros.
Unboxing & scope of delivery
The robot comes in a pretty neatly designed cardboard packaging, which shows the robot itself and some of its functions. However, the scope of delivery is relatively unspectacular. In addition to the robot itself and its suction station, there is only a spare dust bag, the side brush, the power cable and the wiping module including a wiping cloth. The usual paperwork is of course also included. I would have liked a second wipe or another spare dust bag.
Initial setup & commissioning
After unboxing the robot, you should first find a suitable place for the robot and its station and let it charge there. Meanwhile, you can install the Dreamehome app on your smartphone or tablet as it is needed for setup. To set up the robot after installation, the user only needs to select the D10s Plus and follow the step-by-step instructions. After the robot has connected to the WiFi and all further steps have been completed, it is recommended to start a quick mapping. The robot drives everywhere and scans everything using its LIDAR tower to create a precise map so that it can always find its way around. Once the map has been created, the room boundaries and the room names should be set correctly. Once that's done, the robot is actually ready to go, although I would check and adjust all the settings in the app before using it.
Design & processing
I quite like the design of the D10s Plus and its suction station. Dreame relies on a modern and minimalist design without a lot of frills. The robot's housing and its LIDAR tower are made of dark gray matt plastic. The top, however, is made of shiny plastic. The AI-Action obstacle detection is on the front. In addition to the floating silicone main brush, the side brush and the charging contacts, the crash sensors are also located on the underside of the robot. The openings for automatically emptying the dust container can also be found there. The 570 milliliter dust container is located under the top, which can be opened. Everything is very high quality and sturdy and I really liked it. I would only like to see a carrying handle for future models so that you can carry the robot comfortably from A to B.
Dreame relies on LIDAR-based navigation in the D10s Plus, as in all other current models. The robot always knows exactly where it is and moves around everything very precisely. If you move the robot around, it always finds its position again quickly. Another point that I really liked about the navigation is that it doesn't require light to work. That means you have the robot too procan operate easily in dark environments or at night, which would not be possible with camera-based navigation. Overall, in my opinion, the navigation is at a very high level and I always liked it.
In contrast to the normal D10s, the D10s Pro and Plus models have obstacle detection via the camera in the front. This can detect and avoid various objects. These include not only things like socks, shoes and toys, but also cables and scales. In the test, it often reliably detected and avoided all objects, but unfortunately not always. The robot has problems with thin cables and very small objects in particular. Nevertheless, I think the obstacle detection is really well done and satisfactory for this price.
suction
I liked the suction power review, just like the navigation. Dreame uses a combination of a suction power of 5000 Pascal and a rubber main brush. Thanks to this combination, the robot always managed to suck up everything that got in its way in everyday life. You can use the app to set how high the suction power should be. There are 4 levels to choose from. I mostly left it running on the second strongest suction level, as this is more than sufficient for hard floors and the robot automatically increases it to the highest level on carpets. Hair was generally not a big problem for the D10s Plus, although after a few months a few got wrapped around the sides of the rubber brush, but that can't really be avoided. Overall, I really liked the suction power and was pleasantly surprised.
Wiping performance
Like many other mid-range robots, the Dreame D10s Plus also offers a simple mopping function. To use this you simply have to fill water into the water tank, attach the wiping cloth to it and plug the wiping module into the robot. The water flow rate can then be adjusted in 3 levels via the app. Smaller dirt and light coffee stains are usually reliably removed with the cloth, but more stubborn dirt cannot be removed. This wiping function is of course not comparable to an active one, but it is sufficient to remove fine dust and light dirt.

Charge the battery
The robot's battery has sufficient capacity. In the test, the D10s Plus always managed to clean everything on one floor with one load. However, if the battery is no longer sufficient during a cleaning process, the robot returns to the station, charges and then continues cleaning. Once the battery is empty, it takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge. That's not an extremely good value, but it's not really a problem in everyday life.
Dreamehome app
Like almost every other robot vacuum cleaner these days, the D10s Plus also has an app. This is called Dreamehome. You can not only start cleaning processes and set schedules, but also manage all of the robot's settings and adjust them as needed. You can also create and customize multiple maps for multi-story houses or apartments. For example, the user can create zones into which the robot is not allowed to drive or where it is not allowed to wipe. This is a cool feature that I think every robot should have. I also think it's good that you can always see on the map where the robot is currently located and which areas it has already cleaned. Overall, the app is pretty well implemented and I liked it review.

Suction station
I really like the suction station of the D10s Plus. It is almost entirely made of matt plastic and looks very modern and chic. With its dimensions of 403 × 403 × 483 mm, it is not very large and can easily find a suitable place. It holds a 4 liter dust bag, which is sufficient for around 60 to 90 days of daily cleaning in a pet-free household. The suction process is very loud, but it doesn't take too long.
Prices & Availability
You can purchase the Dreame D10s Plus for a price of around 450 to 500 euros. I think the price is absolutely justified for what is on offer. The robot is available at all common electronics stores, such as MediaMarkt, Saturn and Amazon, as well as at Dreame itself in the online shop.
