First impression of the Polestar 4: The car without a rear window?
We were one of the first to test drive the new Polestar models for you in Bad Tölz. What do we think of the new Polestar 4? How does it drive? What's it like without a rear window? We'll explain that to you here in our first impression of the Polestar 4!
With the Polestar 4 The Swedish performance brand is bringing an SUV coupe, which wants to be more of a coupe than an SUV, to the European market. It has a very interesting design and comes in various colors, including "Swedish gold“, hence. In our first few kilometers with the vehicle we had the Long Range version with a pretty light blue metallic paint. This matched the weather perfectly.

Design: New design language
Although the design is worthy of a Polestar, the 4 Series is probably the one that most clearly shows that you are driving a Geely vehicle. The platform is identical to that of the Volvo EX30, Smart #1 and #3 and the ZEEKR X. We really like the new headlights in the mirrored overlay design. A new generation of matrix LED light from Polestar is available as an option.
Classic Polestar, the technical data is printed on the front doors. Battery size and kW are a must. Definitely a good design decision for technology geeks.
Technology: Geely inside
The Polestar 3 is built on the company's own SPA2 platform, while the Polestar 4 is based on the Geely SEA platform. It is currently the largest SEA vehicle that we can buy in Germany and Austria. It also charges the best. Up to 200 kW DC and 22 kW AC can be charged here. We were not able to really record the charging curve, because the vehicle unfortunately did not run out of power quickly enough during our trip. It is always limited to 200 km/h, the top model completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h with 400 kW power and all-wheel drive in just 3,8 seconds! This makes it “currently” the fastest Polestar on the market.
On the infotainment side, the Polestar 4 has a new Android Automotive system. This is powered by a Snapdragon processor with sufficient power and ran without any stuttering or major errors during our trip. The tiles can be moved away from the display if desired, so that Google Maps, for example, is shown in full screen on the 15-inch (approx. 38 cm) display. There is even an ambient light app where you can set the lighting mood in the interior based on planets. Polestar offers an optional Harman Kardon sound system, which, if you take the optional nappa leather seats, even comes with speakers in the front headrests. The sound is, as you would expect from an HK system, really good. A massage function and seat ventilation are also on board from a certain level of equipment.
You've probably noticed in the picture that the rear window is missing. As standard, there is a digital interior mirror with a very good resolution - so far it's the best resolution for a system like this, because you have to somehow compensate for the fact that the rear window is no longer there. Funnily enough, you can still set the interior mirror to the classic "mirror" setting, so that, according to Polestar, you can clearly see the passengers in the back seat. We're excited to see how this system performs in other weather conditions.

Consumption & range: Really good
The consumption on our sightseeing route, including the motorway, was a good 17–18 kWh per 100 km. This gives us 100 kWh battery a real range of 455 km with fast motorway sections. Thanks to the automatic battery preconditioning and a very good e-charging route planner, you are perfectly equipped for long journeys in the Polestar 4. With the Single Motor Long Range, you should be even more efficient on the road.
Prices: Price / performance for 100 kWh really great

It has endless power, you do without artificial sounds and simply enjoy the G-forces that you often feel while driving. It can also be driven in a sporty manner, and thanks to its sporty body and weight, it sits on the road like a skateboard in curves. Here you can see some similarities to the driving experience of the Polestar 2.

I don't understand why the rear window is closed here. It only creates disadvantages.
