Two weeks ago, the Chinese in Paris have the Huawei P20 in addition to the Huawei P20 Pro presented. Recently, the Huawei P20 Pro now in my hands. This is my first impression of the new flagship with triple cameras.

First of all: This article is not intended to be a test of the device, but only to reflect a first impression on my part. For this reason, in this article we unpack the device together and make a first impression of the new flagship from Huawei. We start by unpacking the accessories.

Huawei P20 Pro: That's in the box

You can also find it on the outside of the P20 Pro again a typical Huawei box. Aside from a sticker with specs and the IMEI numbers, you won't find anything special here.

If you open the box, the foil-protected smartphone jumps out at you. Below that there is a user manual and a SIM needle. At the bottom of the box you will find a charging plug, USB-C charger, USB-C headphones and a USB-C to jack adapter. With a maximum output of 5V from the charging plug, the battery of the P20 Pro to 60 in just a few minutes using Huawei SuperCharge technology Procent full tank.

With the P20 series, the manufacturer does without Huawei Mate 10 Pro also here for the first time on a headphone connection. In addition to the included USB-C headphones, there is also an adapter for the headphone connection. So you can also use the P20 Pro enjoy his music with his favorite headphones with a 3,5mm jack plug. However, the device cannot be charged during this time.

Huawei P20 Pro: My first impression

At first glance, the Huawei P20 looks Pro definitely unique. The most striking thing here are the three Leica cameras on the back. Together with the mirror-smooth back, it clearly stands out from the competition. If you turn the device to the front, you immediately notice an innovation: the notch. The cut-out at the top of the display, which was originally dated Essential Phone came and with that iPhone X first became famous, is now also used seriously in the P20. How you can deactivate this very easily, we have in this guide gezeigt.

Despite the thin bezels, Huawei has stayed true to the fingerprint sensor on the front. Although there would still have been space on the side, there are unfortunately no soft buttons, as known from Samsung at the time, on board. In addition, the SIM slot can be found on the left side of the device. In addition to an ambient sensor for noise canceling, there is also an infrared sensor on the top. Last but not least, the volume rocker and the power button can be found on the right-hand side. On the first impression, all buttons look very well made - nothing wobbles or creaks.

Huawei P20 Pro: Furnishings

Immediately after turning on the P20 for the first time Pro you can choose your own WLAN network after selecting the language. Then it goes to setting up the screen lock - this can be done either by fingerprint or Face-Unlock. A combination of both is also possible. With Face-Unlock, the smartphone only needs to be held in front of the face and it unlocks itself. Both methods are quick to set up and always work very reliably after several attempts, even if the fingerprint sensor is always a bit faster.

That was my first impression of the Huawei P20 Pro. In a few weeks, I will do a detailed test of the new Huawei flagship. With more details, this article will be updated.
