One Plus 2: Smartphone flagships face competition - a comparison

Top cell phones compete for smartphone and cell phone comparison with the newly introduced One Plus 2. The mobile phone from the Chinese manufacturer is traded as a flagship killer. Does it live up to its reputation? In cooperation with Geizhandy, an initial evaluation of the One Plus 2 is carried out in comparison with popular smartphones from Apple, Samsung and LG.

Display check

Apart from the LG G4 (5,5 inches), the One Plus 2 stands out with its generous display size. The 5,5 inch IPS display also has a high resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). The androids LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are even better positioned in terms of pixel technology, but this is a quality difference that is difficult to perceive for the human eye. In terms of dimensions and weight, however, the large One Plus 2 display is noticeable in comparison. The cell phone is significantly heavier and also slightly larger than its competitors.

Performance check

The One Plus 2 is powered by an octa-coreProprocessor driven. This Snapdragon 810 in version 2.1. should also run more stable overall and make headlines like in the case of the HTC One M9 with overheating Processor and less performance. However, the favorite in terms of performance in the current mobile phone comparison remains the Exynos 6 built into the Samsung Galaxy S7420 with high computing power (4x 2,1 GHz and 4x 1,5 GHz).

The One Plus 2 scores points with 4 GB of RAM and an internal memory of 64 GB, unfortunately not expandable. Those who value a microSD card slot for easy storage expansion will still find it built into the HTC One M9 or Huawei P8. For other smartphone manufacturers, it has become increasingly the rule to do without a memory expansion or even a replaceable battery.

Camera check

At first glance, the 16- and 5-megapixel cameras on the new One Plus 2 sound good. However, it is the other camera features that ultimately determine the image quality. The Android competitors Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4 are likely to be even stronger and the Apple iPhone 6 (with the exception of the front cam) with its “only” 8 megapixels is still at the forefront of the recommended camera phones.

Conclusion & price-performance

What the Chinese are bringing to the market is smart, although the cell phone is currently only available by invitation only. Also, the One Plus 2 is a pick because of its overall affordable price. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the version with 64 GB and 4 GB RAM is said to be 399 euros (as of August 08). Measured against what you have to shell out for a Samsung Galaxy S2015, Apple iPhone 6 or LG G6, a real bargain! In addition, the dual SIM function of the cell phone is a unique selling point compared to other smartphones.

Flagship killer or not, the One Plus 2 is worth considering. However, it is best to wait and see how the combination of Android and OxygenOS in the OnePlus 2 as well as the optimized one Proprove cessor.

Hello

Stefan

In the end, when it comes to my cell phone, it always depends on: if it falls, is the screen broken or the floor? If I look at a friend's iPhone, which has already had 4 screen changes behind it, and then take my Samsung Galaxy S4, which is still fully intact apart from a few quirks (without a case, yes, I live dangerously), I can already see a difference. How is that with the One Plus 2? 😛 Were there any drop tests done? 😀 That would really interest me ^^

Hi Stefan,
Unfortunately, we cannot tell you that at the moment, as this article was written by a guest author. The author of this post may speak up in the comments.
Of course, it often depends on how the smartphone falls on the floor, either with the glass on the floor or with your back on the floor. ?

Kind regards,
David from TechnikNews
