The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra follows the Pro 3 from spring 2021. We have the successor with the Pro 3 compared.

The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is not very different from the normal one Pro 3. In this test, we will only go into the differences between the two smartwatches. Everything else has remained the same and can be used in my detailed test for the TicWatch Pro 3 can be read

Design of the TicWatch Pro 3 ultras:

A first look at both watches reveals that little has changed in terms of design. The clock looks a little smaller as the edges with the arrow are gone, so the frame has been completely knurled. The case is made of stainless steel and feels a lot more premium on the arm than that of the Pro 3 on. This is also due to the new bracelet, which is now made of rubber. The material should be a lot more robust than the silicone Pro 3, but that will only be determined after a long time. At least the watch has a certification MIL-STD-810G get what officially makes them resistant to "sand and dust, rain, solar radiation" and much more.

Display of the TicWatch Pro 3 ultras:

As with the Pro 3, Mobvoi has installed two displays in the Ultra model. Above the 1,4 inch AMOLED display there is a dedicated FSTN display for the Always On Screen. This ensures longer battery life and can now be illuminated in different colors in "Essential Mode". There are a total of 18 colors to choose from, including plain white or blue. The display itself is now equipped with Gorilla Glass and is therefore also more resistant than the non-Ultra model.

New tracking functions:

While the normal Pro 3 still managed without a compass, Mobvoi has improved the Ultra model. Otherwise, you have access to all important positioning systems (GLONASS, Galileo, Beidu, QZSS), so that the GPS was found quite quickly while jogging. A barometer (to measure the altitude) has also been installed, but was also already installed in the normal model. Also "more or less new" are the 21 sports modes in the "TicÜbung" app. These are introduced with the Ultra model, but are now also on my normal one Pro 3 o'clock arrived. New are: HITT, Pilates, basketball, football, badminton, taekwando, table tennis and ice skating.

TicWatch Pro 3 fatigue

There are also two new health features. The first is “24 hour monitoring of physical and mental condition”. Every half hour the watch measures the heart rate variability and thereby calculates the mental and physical fatigue. This is then divided into five levels, which can be viewed in the "TicGesundheit" app. The second function is the detection of fast or slow heartbeats. If the heartbeat is irregular, a notification will be sent out. I could not test this function (luckily) and should still not be seen as a "medical recommendation".

And finally ...

The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is a good smartwatch and starts for the same RRP of €299 as the Pro 3 (which now costs €255). Should you Pro 3 or go for the Ultra? For me it comes down to personal priority. Do you need a more resistant model? Do you want the colored FSTN display? If you don't absolutely need this, then the normal one is Pro 3 remains a very good option. If you already have it, you don't need to upgrade, it's definitely not worth it.

Hi Nils, about the MIL-STD-810G of the watch - this is not very meaningful, since without further information it is unclear which of the 29 tests the watch passed - do you have more information about it? (A passed test (sic!) Is enough to put on this badge ... I have ordered the watch and will definitely go swimming in the sea with it - then it will show what it can withstand ... 🙂

Nico

Sea Water swimming has been fine on my TicWatch E3 for almost 2 years now. So it should be okay.

Konrad

Hi @MarkusP, did you go and swim with it in the sea already? Any conclusions? wondering if Pro 3 Ultra version is more water resistant than Pro 3.
