Volvo EX90 (Twin Motor Performance Ultra) review: First test drive

The Volvo EX90 is the fully electric successor to the Volvo XC90 (Recharge). I was able to find out what it entails in a first test drive today.
The Volvo EX90 is, like the XC90, very large. Larger than it might appear in the picture. It is a full 1,74 meters high, 1,96 meters wide and 5,04 meters long. Nevertheless, the maximum possible range is 627 kilometers (WLTP standard), which is primarily due to the drag coefficient of 0,29. During the test drive today with an outside temperature of -3 degrees Celsius, I covered a distance of around 100 kilometers, consuming just over 30 percent. Given the temperatures, that was no surprise - on the contrary, I am quite happy with it. We will of course evaluate the range in more detail in a detailed test.
In the car you almost feel like you are in a luxury living room. And that, although similar to the Polestar 4 A lot of recycled plastic is used alongside FSC-certified wood. What is also the same compared to the Polestar 4 is the positioning of the alarm flashing system. One positive difference, however, is that the button is there a second time on the center display, where it is easier to reach.
Depending on the configuration, there are between five and seven seats. In the variants with six or seven seats, the third row can be folded in and out at the touch of a button. Even when all seats are folded out, the trunk still has a capacity of 324 liters. Depending on the variant, the maximum capacity is 2.135 liters.
There was nothing noteworthy about the infotainment, which is based on Android Automotive. A major disadvantage is that Apple CarPlay only works via a cable connection. On the positive side, the speakers developed with Bowsers & Wilkins are worth mentioning. I have never experienced such a rich bass in a car as in the EX90.
I can also say good things about the driving experience. Due to the size of the vehicle and the good damping, you literally glide over the streets even at high speeds. Furthermore, the acceleration is very good - in just a few moments the colossus can reach 100 kilometers pro hour accelerated.
I still have mixed feelings about Pilot Assist, the adaptive cruise control that I tested on the highway. The steering wheel "twitched" a few times and changing lanes with the lane change assistant was aborted several times because the car thought I didn't have my hands on the steering wheel. But that's almost certainly something that could be ironed out with an over-the-air update.
Volvo EX90: Prices
The price of the demo vehicle that was made available to us today is 115.154 euros (including sales tax, excluding NoVa). The starting price of the cheapest configuration is 93.460 euros. However, a cheaper version with rear-wheel drive is due to follow soon.
Exclusive NoVA? Since when is this relevant for electric cars? *gg*
A few more technical details would do the article good but otherwise good post 🙃
