Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G review: first impression after three days of use
About two months ago, the Chinese manufacturer introduced two devices from the Mi 11 Lite series, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G and a cheaper one 4G variant, officially before. Contrary to what the names suggest, the smartphones not only have a different mobile communications standard, but also differ in the built-in components Proprocessor, memory, front glass and front camera.
Whether these few differences justify the current surcharge of around 60 euros and whether I can recommend the smartphone to others, you will find out in a few weeks in my detailed review. In the following lines I would first like to report about my first impressions after three days of use.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G in the first impression
Since there are now so many smartphones from Xiaomi, on the one hand you gradually lose track and on the other hand some devices lose their raison d'etre due to better, in-house competition. I was exactly of this opinion when the manufacturer presented the Mi 11 Lite 5G for a recommended retail price of 399 euros, because for this price, at least on paper, the cheaper Poco F3 has to be beaten.
When I picked up the Mi 11 Lite 5G for the first time a few days ago, it was immediately clear to me that this smartphone had its right to exist due to its beautiful design. The back is made of glass and due to the matte surface it is not susceptible to fingerprints. In addition, the back feels extremely high quality. In addition, there are the extremely thin edges around the display and the small punch hole for the front camera, but that is hardly different with other smartphones. The special feature, however, is the thickness and weight. At just 159 grams, it is currently one of the lightest smartphones on the market and the thickness of 6,8 mm is also impressive. You definitely notice these numbers in everyday life and for me personally it is extremely refreshing to use such a thin and light smartphone again.
Apart from the design, the Mi 11 Lite 5G was also able to convince in terms of performance after three days of use. Under the hood is the new Snapdragon 780G from Xiaomi, with either 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage. Apps start and close very quickly and, thanks to the smooth refresh rate of 90 Hertz, everything looks nice and smooth. A Poco F3 should run a little smoother here, but I am also very satisfied with the performance of the Mi 11 Lite 5G so far. Otherwise, after three days of use, I noticed the stereo speakers, the fingerprint sensor on the side and the display positively. I can't say anything about the camera or the battery life at the moment. I'll have to take a closer look at this over the next few days and compare it with other smartphones.
These were my first impressions of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G after a few days of use. In a couple of weeks we will take a closer look at the smartphone in my detailed review and compare it with competitors.
