Google camera: Support for larger color spaces, possibly for Pixel 4
The Google camera gets support for the P3 color space, which includes several colors. What that means, I explain here.
There are currently two color spaces used in smartphone cameras. These are called sRGB and P3. The former is mainly used for photos taken with an Android device. Apple has been implementing the latter color space since the iPhone 7. The difference is that the P3 is 25 Procent is larger than sRGB. I think it should be obvious what that means.
Google camera: P3 color space for the Pixel 4?
Google already announced last month that support for taking P3 color space photos will be coming. A point in time was not given. XDA has now been able to compile a version of the Google camera that can save photos with the extended color space. The result looks pretty impressive and promising. Presumably this feature was introduced for the camera of the upcoming Pixel 4 .
