Blackberry does not want to manufacture or develop smartphones in the future. So is it the end of Blackberry?

In the future, the group no longer wants to manufacture its own devices and completely abandon hardware development. As early as 2015, the company's own operating system called Blackberry 10 was left behind and replaced with Android with an immediate decision.

The last Blackberry wasn't a real Blackberry

Another indication of the end of Blackberry is that the recently released Blackberry DTEK 50 was designed and manufactured by Alcatel, a French manufacturer. Only a large part of the software was developed by Blackberry. The Canadian group would like to continue this business model in the future and thus concentrate on security solutions and on the development of the software.

This made the Blackberry Priv the last real Blackberry smartphone. It is not impossible that smartphones like the DTEK 50 will still be around in the future when the Blackberry and Alcatel are welded together. However, these smartphones will have few old Blackberry devices.

Completely failed as a hardware manufacturer?

Blackberry's decline is dramatic: the smartphones were gradually replaced by iOS or Android devices. In 2009, Blackberry had a global market share of 20,7 Procent. This number is currently only cracked by Samsung. More information can be found in the infographic The report of Statista .
