Bicycle path logo too similar: Apple is taking action against “apple route”
Apple is currently fighting with a German tourism association about a logo that is too similar. The branding of the “Apple Route” is supposed to look too similar to that of the company. Now you are probably going on the offensive.
The “Apple Route”, a 120 km long bicycle route, is to be opened shortly in the German Rhineland. The start would be scheduled for May 19, but now Apple is cutting the bill. The logo, which shows a red arrow in the shape of an apple, is said to look too similar to the logo from Cupertino. Again General Gazette Bonn reported, an objection has been filed with the German Patent Office.
Opening of the apple and green leaf too similar
The logo for the apple route was originally submitted to the Trademark Office in 2018. Like the Rhenish apple route now on Facebook writes in a statement that the opening of the apple and the green leaf are too closely related to the Apple logo. Apple apparently called on the association to restrict registration and change the logo, as there was a risk of confusion. A legal dispute would not be acceptable for the association, so the Rhenish apple route on Facebook.
Corresponding texts will now be changed and the logo will only be protected for "reference to a cycle path through the apple-growing region Rhein-Voreifel". After these changes, it seems confident - an out-of-court settlement is also likely to be underway. A rather unsympathetic approach on the part of Apple. After all, you don't sell any iPhones, iPads or other technical ones Products – it is just a cycle route with a logo.
Apple often takes action against Apple logos because, from their point of view, they seem too similar to their own logo. Not only that: only recently the watch manufacturer "Swatch" ProI disagree with Apple because the similar slogan "Tick Different" is used - it is too similar to "Think Different", the official Apple motto.
